Ending felt a bit rushed, but still a great read.
This has to be my favorite historical romance to date and one of my favorite books of all time. The plot is so rich and the way McNaught writes it feels like you're truly in another world with the characters. Love love love

Amazing as always with McNaught. I don’t have much experience with the marriage in trouble trope but I loved it here. The plot of this book was insane and I never knew where it was heading. The added suspense of the murder plot was a fun one, giving a healthy mix of internal and external conflict. I loved reading about Jordan’s growth, and Alex was an amazing heroine. The addition of an epilogue also made me very happy.

[Note: I am in a book slump so have mostly been re-reading classics while I wait for [author:Ilona Andrews|21748]' [b:Emerald Blaze|49053880|Emerald Blaze (Hidden Legacy, #5)|Ilona Andrews|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1576862167l/49053880._SY75_.jpg|61763682] to come out next month.] And this one is a solid four-star read for me.
Like all of Judith McNaught's books, there are a lot of obstacles thrown in the way of the happily ever after, but the obstacles here were much less contrived than in Almost Heaven. I enjoyed the evolution of both the hero and heroine and thought they had sizzling chemistry (towards the second half of the book).

Judith McNaught is just pure magic. I own most all of her books..that's how good she is. Usually I get my fix from the library so I'm not out anything. JM's stories are keepers though! This was a re-re-read for me, and the story gets better every single time.
The characters are so easy to relate to. You have Alexandra who starts out young & naïve. She just wants to be loved and put first for once. Alex knows nothing about high society or how to act in certain social circles. Then we have the cold and cynical, ( all the best heros are!), Duke of Hawthorne who is forced to wed this 'child'. He has seen everything and done everything at least twice! They are the perfect pair and they're definitely in my top 20 fav couples....maybe even top 10.
I'm more than ready for McNaught's new books to come out! She's one of my favorite authors & an auto buy on my list at B&N.
