Such a strong start and gorgeous cover but big chunks of the books just irritated me. Overall, this was an okay read that I may have to try again when I have more patience.

The pot was all over the place but like, in a good way.

This is a book that reminds its readers to never judge books, or people, by how they appear on the outside.

OMG I think this is my most favourite historical romance EVER!

Though the plot wasn't outstandingly new, the novel was written well, which, in comparison to the trash even the most popular romance novels are comprised of today, renders it extraordinary. The dialogue is believable and witty and the heroine is neither absurdly obstinate nor tragically helpless. Refreshing and highly entertaining.

The perfect easy, fast-paced and lovely re-read to get one out of an excruciating reading slump at last!

Logicless (at first, she compares her husband's kisses with her other suitors', and then she doesn't want him to know that she didn't kiss anybody except him. Logic, anyone?), emotionless (I don't find it emotional to read about how much she loved her picture of him and then how jealous he was to learn that she didn't stop leaving when she thought him dead), irritating (everything - heroine, hero, plot, secondary characters - everything), boring (almost 500 pages with almost no action. And while I fing it acceptable when reading some authors, with Ms McNaught it bored me to death, I'm not really sure why I've read it from the beginning to the end). Would be completely forgettable if weren't so bad.
