Really enjoyed this! Light & funny enough to work as a beach read but relevant/political enough to be interesting.

This is actually my favorite book of all time. HOWEVER. I think it's made infinitely better/funnier/more enjoyable if you've ever had to sit through a college philosophy class. I would hazard a guess the jokes don't land quite as well if you haven't had that particular experience. (Not because it's particularly dense or confusing without a philosophy background, rather it's just much funnier if you've ever had to listen to a philosophy professor ramble on for an hour 3 times a week at 9:30 AM.) But I loved it immensely. Also, yes, seemingly there isn't plot for 90% of the book, which seems to be the biggest criticism I see about it, but that also is the entire point: An academic so wrapped up in his own head he literally doesn't notice the plot is happening until the end. Amazing, iconic, plus the main character is an alpaca, literally what else could you possibly want in a book? Maybe not for everyone, but I loved it so completely I will never stop talking about it for the rest of time.

2.5 stars. Modern take on Animal Farm but with Trump (or is it Giuliani?) in the Stalin role. It starts really strong but by the midway point it begins meandering before it gets completely bogged down in the silly capitalist conspiracy plot and by the end I didn't care, I was just glad it was short.
