Griffin is brought to Spindle Cove by his mother to pick a wife, his future duchess, so he picks a working glass woman, a daughter of a farmer, in the hopes of pissing off his mother. However, this shows not to be the case, his mother is determined to have them end up together so continues to train Pauline to be the perfect duchess.
This book was so sweet, Griffin was the typical asshole rake instead he has some real pain and grief that has caused him to not want to get married. There was some major growth on his part and there was some super sweet moments with his mum once he opens up to her. Pauline is so robust and strong while also being so determined to prove she is more than her background.
tropes: rags to riches, damaged MC's, forced proximity
triggers: disabled sister, abusive father, child loss

SIGH...ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!,...I loved every page!...I loved the witty dialogue!...I loved the last chapter and epilogue!...very sigh worthy!!..This continues to be one of the BEST historical series out there!..hands down:)..cant wait for more:)
I love Tessa Dare. Her stories and writing are intriguing. I love her modern take on regency sensibilities. Refreshing. My only complaint with this story and others is how the endings drag on. This book is no different. Her story endings feel forced, sacrificing the story to appease 21st Century sensibilities. Don't get me wrong; the story was entertaining. Just be prepared for an ending made up of 3-4 epilogues.
