I know William Shatner has a rep as being something of a jerk, but this book is a very touching bio of Leonard Nimoy and of the friendship he and Bill shared. It's also a fascinating look at early television and the actor's perspective of it. I listened to the audio, which was read by Shatner, and it felt very conversational. It was like I was sitting with him and listening to him tell stories. It's a funny, touching, sometimes eye opening look at a famous friendship between two cultural icons, and well worth reading if you're a fan of Trek, behind the scenes books, or biographies. Be prepared for some tears!

This book is about so much more than Spock and of course Kirk. It is about two men brought together by a television show, the passion they inspired in their fans, but mostly the passion they both had for their craft. Going back and watching clips of Mr. Nimoy in M:I as Paris, and revisiting the fun commercials he did for Priceline, VW and Audi made me laugh so much! The work he did with Alien Voices along with John de Lancie were great fun as well. This book should make you want to explore everything Mr. Nimoy did, from his role as Spock to his directing work, photography, writing and voice work. I know it has for me. He will be greatly missed.

Touching memoir of a lifelong friendship. Audiobook version is particularly great, with Bill Shatner doing the reading and giving it his trademark voice.

It's about Leonard, but also about Shatner. It's more like a Shatner memoir but with interspersed Nimoy stories, so maybe people's expectations would be met if the cover featured images of both of them? But the book is dedicated to Leonard and I think this was Shatner's way of asking forgiveness for a few decades of him being a little too much, and how that might have hurt Leonard. Either way, it's clear Shatner truly loved Leonard and admired him deeply.

William Shatner sure can waffle on...and by the end of this badly written book, which took me over a year to get to the end of, he and Nimoy aren't even speaking. What kind of a person cashes in on the death of a friend who wouldnt return their calls? Waiting for a better biography of this accomplished actor and person.

If you haven’t read Shatner’s other autobiographies, this is a better read. There’s a lot of recycled material in Leonard, bookended by new stories. Still a worthy read, but sparse.

I listened to the audiobook and Shatner's reading of these stories made them even better. This is a good bio on Nimoy, but a great bio on an enduring friendship. There are some excellent Star Trek stories in here, but it's much more than that. Definitely worth checking out.

A wonderful tribute to an extraordinary man- compelling and bittersweet.
Leonard Nimoy infused purpose into all he did and Shatner captures both his strengths and weaknesses beautifully.

I enjoyed this. There were moments it felt like he was just reading a book and others I felt his emotions came out. I mean this for the audio book I listened to. It was an enjoyable book about real people who played a part of characters and stories some of us loved. I felt that was really apparent here. These were people who had relationships with ebb and flow we all do with people we worked with, people we share something with.

I got about halfway and ran out of steam. Decent but not spectacular writing. I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't it.
