What a charming book about high school friendships, getting your period, and equity.

After I finished this book, I needed to take a moment to think about what to write. This book is so, so important. As I have gotten older, moving out of my teen years, I have become much more... I guess not really comfortable with talking about it, but more blunt. Infuriated and righteous in my rage, I openly talk about my period to make it normal, to make people uncomfortable and ask them, what is so wrong with my talking about this? This book is so important for the young teens who are just getting their period, or the people who are period veterans, to know that this is an injustice to us, and that we deserve to talk openly about our bodies and get the things we need to keep us healthy. Even several minutes after finishing this, I still have chills. Thank you for writing this book. I hope this empowers menstruators and allies everywhere to fight for our rights. Because after reading this, I'm ready.

Go With the Flow (aka a graphic novel I wish existed when I was younger) ♥️

"A friendship story. Period."

I honestly picked this out at the local library because I liked the cover. It took me awhile to figure out the pun which is all over.

My thoughts:
-It focuses on menstruation and the stigma surrounding it, but it's also about friendship and the people who help you find a place in the world.
-This is one of those books that I finish reading and then want to make sure everyone learns about. It's just that important and I'm happy to see the subject covered in a graphic novel.
-I loved how inclusive and informative it was about periods, especially from an emotional standpoint which is often hard to convey in a pamphlet.
-They didn't mention menstrual cups which I think are a game changer. Understandably though since they have a higher learning curve.

What an incredible GN. I truly wish that I had a book like this when I was in Jr. High. Definitely one for MS/HS collections. A sweet story about the power of friendship and support, being able to discuss “taboo” such as your period.

A really good discussion on periods for a younger crowd. It also addresses the social stigmas that come with a period, as well as the issue of accessibility to period products. The friendship was also very nice to see.

Periods are normal. Access to periods is a human right.

I loved this book. I think it should be required reading in schools. I love the friendship between Sasha, Abby, Christine, and Brit. I love how they all have different periods . (I wish there was more inclusion of trans men or nonbinary folk who have periods, for instance I thought Christine would have been trans) I love how empowering the book is. I relate a lot of Brit. I am so happy with the people of color representation. I was expecting and hoping for a relationship between Abby and Christine! It's a little ironic that the year the book took place in was 2020 but by March their school would have been closed. It was so cute and amazing though! I wish I had read this when I was younger and needed more information about painful periods and period poverty. It is great. I love the artstyle and how the colors are all red. I love the puns. I am going to be calling my friends duderinos now.

I enjoyed this read it was very quick! I didn’t enjoy some of the add ins that seemed like there was an agenda trying to be pushed but I believe that it is helpful for young people! I really liked reading this book!

This is fantastic. It's a perfect opener to talk to my 8 year old about what her experience could be and just what it means to have a period... AND to not be weirded out, ashamed, embarrassed... All those words. It's relatable as heck. If you have a period or know someone who does... Read this book and then get them a copy. Basically all of you... Everyone.
