A somewhat silly but rather enjoyable book. The silly element is the plot, which is contrived and generally uninteresting. This sounds a bit scathing, but it's a testament to Austen that the book reads as funny and and engaging. I don't know how she did it though! The Bennett sisters are well characterised, and of course Jane and Elizabeth Bennett are admirable and lovable. Their parents throw in some comic relief and Mr Darcy is...well he's basically a non-character whose personality fits whatever turn the plot has taken. If not for Colin Firth it's hard to imagine him as the icon he has become.
Any enjoyment I had from reading this book is limited to my awe of Austen's scope of understanding of the disposition of people's characters. She has a brilliant ability to articulate and draw an image of the reasons why people act the way they do. In that sense, this novel truly lives up to and surpasses its title.
However, I did find myself struggling to get through many portions of this book, namely the beginning. There are parts where I was extremely engaged, but that would repeatedly dwindle off due to the book's pacing. It was likely purposeful on Austen's part, to demonstrate the slower lifestyle of the book's characters, in which case drawing out the scenes to its finer details makes a lot of sense.
While I can appreciate that, it just wasn't for me. I personally did not enjoy how robustly she wrote. It might be the fact that this was my first Jane Austen novel and I was not equipped with her language and writing style, but I am nonetheless quite disappointed.

Ez sokkal szórakoztatóbb volt, mint számítottam rá! Sosem láttam a filmeket, úgyhogy bőven ért meglepetés.

No idea ahow and what I feel about this book.
Too slow for my liking. The beginning is quite boring and it didn’t hook me in like I expected. I might give it a try at a later date.

I actually enjoyed "Pride and Prejudice" much more than "Emma." Often given the title of a "woman's book," I think such a title is exceedingly unfair as it overlooks Austen's skill for characterization and storytelling. Granted, Pride and Prejudice does move a little slow at times, but it's no small feat to make a grown man in 2015 (and 2017) come to care about romance in Victorian society, and much of it is due to Austen's intricate characterization.
Reread this book for a graduate class and appreciated it far more. Austen's humor and irony are subtle and clever. The majority of the characters are all quite complex, and her dialogue is fantastic.
