This was such a surprise of a book. I had don't remember when I got this, but holy cow, this book is so good.
Hard hitting, emotional, I teared up more than once. Lily is such a strong person, and I feel for her so much. What she's been through would break most people, but she never allowed it to fully crush her. It likely would have crushed me.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Hudson when his character was introduced. But as I got to know him, I really him. I believed his affection. I had a different theory of what they were holding off on telling her, and when I figured out what they weren't telling her, I don't know why they're keeping it from her.

There are a lot of tough topics covered in this book, and honestly, I just feel that one aspect is something that should be covered in the sequel.
Her father forcing her to lie to the cops, is highly illegal... and I hope there are some kind of repercussions or something for that. Like state-judge or not, he forced her to cover up a crime... I feel like something should be done about that.

I don't think I have ever read something like this and one with Lilly's character. She had a rough life and that just makes her story so beautiful. I seriously don't know how her story and Hudson going to go, but I'm so looking forward to it. I'm already impatiently waiting for it. I just have so many questions!

I loved this book so much, I couldn’t put it down. I got hooked from the very beginning! When reading this book you really feel all the emotions that these characters are going through...especially Lilly. This book is part of a duet and will definitely leave you wanting the second part of Lilly and Hudson’s story. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. I would absolutely recommend this book!

Received a arc for a honest review.

Not your typical story of redemption. A story that shows the ugly side of human nature. Lilly is a child when her father turns on her; forcing her to accept responsibility for something that was not her fault. Lilly is left a lone in the world and forced to grow up in a way none of should have to. Finally free of the bars of prison Lilly has accepted her reality and is just trying to survive. She is defeated and weighed down by All the Ugly Things that have happened to her.
I am anxious to read book two of this duet. If you are looking for a story that hits all the emotions with a new twist on redemption. This is totally your read!

OK, I really loved this one. First of all, I deeply connected with Lilly. I admire her and I feel for her. She went through a lot and yet, she is brave and resilient.
I really loved how mysterious Hudson is.
I love how the author created such a mysterious storyline and I hated that cliffy. Great chemistry and wonderful pace.
I cannot wait for more.
