the more lighthearted chapters got some laughs out of me as always, but this volume also introduced a more serious overarching plot. i definitely think some sort of story development and a stronger central driving narrative is needed in this manga for it to stay interesting going forward, but this plot was a little melodramatic for my taste. i guess i shouldn’t expect a ton from a manga that’s mostly meant to be comedic, but i can’t help mentally comparing this to spy x family, a series that definitely balances out its comedy with serious plotlines a lot better.

This volume was definitely more plot-centric than the past two volumes.  I felt this grounded me grounded me into a timeline (getting the events of the other books in order), and it reinforced that the previous scenes are part of a bigger picture.  It shows that...
while Kirishima has vastly improved, he still is very much flawed and has more to learn in regards to self control.  He has the new drive and purpose, but he needs to harness his rage.
