This volume was definitely more plot-centric than the past two volumes.  I felt this grounded me grounded me into a timeline (getting the events of the other books in order), and it reinforced that the previous scenes are part of a bigger picture.  It shows that...
while Kirishima has vastly improved, he still is very much flawed and has more to learn in regards to self control.  He has the new drive and purpose, but he needs to harness his rage.

As is with the previous two volumes, The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting 3 starts out with some smaller side stories. We have Sara reprising in this one along with her father to come along for a playdate at the Sakuragi family home. We're introduced to another new character, Hayami, whose goal is to defeat Kirishima. In volume 3, however, we do get a multi-chapter run of a far darker story than we've seen thus far. I'll go into that down below and probably have some spoiler talk there.

This might get a bit redundant, but I like the stories in this volume too. They're generally fun, save for the one that's not meant to be. I don't mind Hayami and what his introduction will likely mean for the series in the future. I think it'll be interesting to focus in a little more on one of the more aggressive characters, though I'm sure he'll never win in a fight against Kirishima. It feels like a set up for more of a constant rivalry than a one and done fight. That can always be fun, depending on how it's played out.

I, of course, didn't adore that we started off with Sara and her father, who are maybe my least favorite side characters. I read it all, but I was tempted to just skip ahead without much of a second thought about that.

I'm going to talk about the darker, longer plotline of the volume, so I'll pop it under a spoiler.
Now, I know we weren't going to get and I didn't want, a big fight where Yaeka gets super hurt, but I didn't exactly buy that she was knocked out for two days from one slap. I'm not like, why didn't we see her get the shizz beat out of her. I'm not here for that. It just made the storyline feel a little... dramatic. I get that Kirishima wanted to go take down those who hurt her. Got it. Fair. I just felt like the stakes felt a little off.

I'm still loving this series, but if I had the next volume I wouldn't jump right in. I like the set up we have, but I'm just getting a little... bored isn't the right word, but it's getting the slightest bit redundant for my taste. I feel like if I read more than this right in a row, I would end up being too critical of it. It could be that neither of the main characters are changing all that much, which is fine, but I think I need to switch some things up a bit.
