Evershore brings the Skyward Flight novella series to an end as it focuses on Jorgen and his development as a Cytonic. As Jorgen, FM, Alanik, and the other members of Skyward Flight search for the missing General Cobb, while trying to find a way to create alliances and fight the Superiority. In this story they meet the Kitsen and work to prove that old animosities no longer apply as they recruit another race in their effort to build momentum against their common enemy. The Kitsen have vast records on Cytonics which prove essential to Jorgen learning what he is capable of and how he can help lead the effort and turn what was once survival into something more.
The best of the trio of Skyward novellas, but still has some issues.
First, the good: Jorgen's POV is excellent, mostly. He lacks a strong voice in the first few chapters, but I think this was intentional (representing his suppressed emotions). There is a solid and satisfying arc of growth, both emotionally and with his cytonic powers.
The kitsen are great. Adorable, but not portrayed as a joke.
The bad: The proliferation of hyperjumping makes the climax extremely hard to follow. I hope this will be toned down dramatically in the next book, it's just super messy.
And for a series that's so much about empathy, we sure are turning the Superiority into faceless goons to be murdered with impunity. I'm not saying this is wrong, but it needs to be dealt with instead of brushed off.
So, yeah, Skyward is still a very fun and very uneven series, and I'm excited for Defiant next year.

Loved it! Easily the best of the three and made the other two very much worth it! Can't wait for Skyward 4 to come out!

Such a fun read and fits so well with the series. I enjoyed hearing Jorgenās perspective, in the earlier books I was always wanting to know more about him. It was well balanced with emotional moments and battle/action. It was great finding out more / getting the gaps filled about the cytonics.
