You could call it doom mongering but Jacobsen has used testimonials from experts to compile the details of what happens after the detection of a launch, detonation and consequences felt over the first 90mins and then thousands of years later. I don't think it's a spoiler to say it doesn't end well.
It's a fascinating book. At times it feels like a movie script with stage instructions but I learned a lot.
The author narrates the audio book. I'd recommend speeding it up to 1.1 times, otherwise it sounds like the author believes each sentence is an absolute revelation which is a bit maddening.
