This is a lovely little book. The story of Juan Salvado is sweet and endearing. I didn’t love the writing style, finding it too wordy at times, but that is simply my preference.

Incredible true story, not very well written

A lovely little book if you're into lovely little books. The story definitely made me smile but I was craving a bit more from the Argentine politics, though, I guess that's not what the aim of this game was. The writing reads easily but there seemed to be a lot of repetition and I really didn't like the weird conversation he had with the penguin. All that said, I liked the story and the little penguin Juan Salvado will stay with me for a while.

A young British teacher in Argentina rescues a penguin that survived an oil spill. He brings the bird back to his boarding school, where everyone loves him. Entertaining, and sometimes moving anecdotes about learning to care for a penguin, the penguin as a rugby fan, his swimming sparking a new look at a student. Fun, not profound.

It has been a while since I read a book quite as fulfilling and lovely as The Penguin Lessons.
Juan Salvador grows on you in much the same way as he grew on all the people who really met him. The author's descriptions manage to capture the penguin perfectly and bring him to life in your mind, as if he was standing in front of you.
He made me giggle and think how wonderful nature really is. I loved every second of this book and I wouldn't doubt for a second you would too.
