I liked this book a lot. It was previously a DNF read for me, but I’m so glad I gave it another chance. It’s funny, compelling, and romantic. It was a fun read and had great dynamics and representation.

I liked this book a lot more the first three times, and it’s lost its charm some.
I like when books have multiple plots, and this book is one of my favorite examples of that.

It’s funny, very quippy, it’s got some cute moments, and the characters are like able enough. I enjoyed seeing the relationship come together, but after I got about 3/4s of the way through it sat untouched on my desk for weeks because, ultimately, I didn’t care enough about the story or the characters to see what happens to them.

hi. i just reread this book for the billionth time. popping in to say how much this book has given me. the advice in these pages is astounding. all of the love, grief, fear, humor, and overwhelming hope in these words is jaw dropping. casey mcquinston has a way of making the most outlandish scenarios seem entirely realistic and possible, and they also have a way of making the mundane spectacular. i know this review isn’t the most specific, but i believe that books are to make you feel, not to necessarily make sure you can recall every detail (I mean, I can with this book, but still).

thank you casey, for making sure this book is there. for this bisexual, half-mexican girl to pick up and fall in love with.

I devoured this book like it was most delicious desert I've ever tasted. I can't agree more with the review on the back of the book from Entertainment Weekly calling it a "fireworks in the sky, glitter in your hair royal romance." This is the 2019 and 2020 I wished I lived in--I wish everyone lived in. This powerful story where love and acceptance triumphed, where it's the greatest strength that can pull us through anything. Alex and Henry and the whole gang had me laughing and crying and flailing and staying up til 6am until my eyes were too tired to focus on the words, and even then I pressed on because I just couldn't get enough!

What an outstanding debut novel!! This is by far one of the best love stories I've ever read, and will probably reread many times. It left my heart feeling warm and full and hopeful for a future where maybe, just maybe, the real world could be this bright. I know it's an extremely idealistic imagining of the world, but I don't care, because it made my stressful days brighter and my sleepless nights gentler.

If you're looking for a hopeful romance that will sweep you off your feet and warm your heart til your face hurts with smiles, this is the book for you!

I overall enjoyed this book a lot! I’m a big fan of enemies to lovers and just in general a good “poetic lover vs dumb idiot” which this book has in strides. Though the major reason that this book gets 4 stars and not 5 is that I was gripped for the first 350 pages but the last 100 were a chore that I was less interested in. I just couldn’t finish it to save my life until I just sat down an plowed through it. A majority of the plot was finished and I just didn’t care about anything else that could happen next.

SUCH A FUNNY BOOK!! such a light hearted read, will def warm ur heart, SOO much pop culture references: remus lupin being gay, taylor swift’s 4th of july party, spiderman, zendaya, bts, etc. i binge read this book bc it was so addicting i could not put it down, whenever i had to do smth but wanted to read, i’d turn on the audiobook HAHAH. theres a lot of american/british political references but its not that hard to understand so its okay.

its not emotional at all or at least not to the extent im used to? but this book had every trope ever i couldnt believe it it was so cool.

since i went into the book w very! high! expectations, i was honestly slightly underwhelmed w the romance :( the whole premise of the book made it seem like the enemies to lovers would be VERY prominent. yes we got that but i only rly felt it coming from one side of the partyy? like i only felt it come from alex’s side, not much from henry’s. and the banter (before they got together) was very surface level
and they kissed in chapter 4, which means there’s basically no slowburn, which i love smh, but we still got a lot of enemies to lovers scrnes like chasing him across the world, stubborn arguments, “shut the fuck up!! i fucking love you, okay??” confessions, but thank God the scenes after were v cute theyre such a cute couple

at first i thought alex def carried the relationship but i began to love henry more n more, he’s such a softie its so cute. they’re sooo right for each other. my faves would have to be zahra, bea, and nora :) #badbitches AND OMG THE REPRESENTATION AND DIVERSITY??? we love to see it!!!
