2016 review:

I actually really, really enjoyed this, and got a lot more into it and engaged in the story than I usually do with comics. It was a solid story, the dialogue was funny, and I liked the character dynamic within the team.

I really enjoyed this first volume of the New Avengers, especially Spiderman. I've only read their tie ins with AvX but I'll definitely have to check out the rest of the series in the future.

Hangs my head in shame.
I didn't go crazy over this book.

You've got a bunch of baddies about to break out of Ryker's Island.

Spider man, Captain America, Spider girl and of course Iron Man are involved with the saving of the day. Well sorta..there are still a whole lot of baddies that get loose.
The Captain America decides that they need a new Avengers group to go after the crime dudes.

I just thought this was kinda bland. Usually I'm a superhero fangirl but I couldn't even work it up for Iron Man..and Iron Man is hawt.

The artwork was awesome though.

honestly just wanted to read this cause it seemed like the start of Jessica Drew's modern run. There are a lot of references to House of M, which I haven't read. I probably will at some point.

The Sentry is super boring, but I always like Spider-Man, Cap, and Luke Cage. The prison break was fun. Also fun seeing the Purple Man get beat to shit.

Jessica Drew's hemline made absolutely no sense, give that girl some pants smh.

Someday, I need to do a reread of Bendis era Avengers, but I know it's a very uneven and sometimes unsatisfying experience. But volume one feeds into Bendis's [b:Daredevil by Bendis & Maleev: Ultimate Collection, Book 1|8092501|Daredevil by Bendis & Maleev Ultimate Collection, Book 1|Brian Michael Bendis|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1355039703l/8092501._SY75_.jpg|12843117] and [b:Alias, Vol. 1|105889|Alias, Vol. 1|Brian Michael Bendis|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388275434l/105889._SY75_.jpg|6366241] storylines in important ways, so I'm including it as part of the Daredevil readthrough.

It's not at all necessary but it's a fun tertiary title, and Murdock is an important minor character.

I enjoyed it. And well... I didn't. I don't know! It just didn't strike me as anything outstanding!

Logan is great.
So is Peter, but only in other people's comics. I love that he gets called out for being whiny.

I am loving this so far. I am glad to have a chance to read a new long series that features Spider-Man and some of these other great characters.

I am new to comics and have decided to read this after reading Avengers Dissambled that I read after watching all the MCU movies. I am diving into all the comics and many told me to read this run by Bendis.

So far so good. Lots of villians on the loose and an interesting blend of Avengers so I look forward to see how the crazy hodge podge of a beginning morphs into something great based on what I am told.
