So incredibly charming-I got chills a few times from the sheer sweetness and sincerity. The fantastical elements work incredibly well with the sweeping colors and I really appreciated the diversity of the characters. Smol heart <3

Sweet gentle short pieces about a kid and their caregiver. The most successful for me was the one where the kid met another kid who showed them a bug garden.

I loved that the caregiver grandfather had been a postal carrier. And that the caregiver was the grandfather, in general. Also points for representing a kid who uses a crutch to get around. I found myself uncomfortable with how the grandfather was drawn, but that is probably a cultural thing.

Yay ownvoices comics which translate pretty darn well!

These stories are about a little girl names Yu’er and her Grandpa. Yu-er is disabled, she either uses a crutch or is often biked around or pushed in a cart by her Grandpa. This book is heartwarming and generally a nice thing to read, the illustrations are as beautiful as the stories themselves. This book would pair nicely with a multicultural event or an art class with watercolors.

An adorable Chinese book of stories from Beijing. ALL the artwork is color watercolors. The stories center on a disabled child and her grandfather. I would classify them as magical realism slice-of-life.
