I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. Since I hadn’t read the first book I read it, then this one. Rebecca Roanhorse is an amazing author. The world building and lore that she has woven into this series is incredibly original and unlike anything I had ever read. You definitely need to read Black Sun before reading Fevered Star. There are so many well developed characters and I really enjoyed the multiple POV that is used to tell this story. I am now impatiently waiting until next June when the third book comes out.
I wanted to love this more than I did. Big thing to me is it really felt like nothing happened and it was all set up for the conclusion in the next book?

I've been waiting eagerly for the sequel to Black Sun, and this did not disappoint! Political intrigue, magic and the power of love - familial, religious and romantic, all swirl around in the fast-moving plot. I stayed up many a night well past my bedtime because I couldn't put the book down.

Finished the audiobook this morning - and I kept thinking the whole time "no no no it's about to end". I love this world and I cannot wait for the third book to be available!
So much potential! Naranpa’s new role was underplayed so much. This book suffers from middle book syndrome. More than half was setting up for a very brief climax that didn’t lead us much further plot wise. It’s like the story is just setting up for something bigger. I do feel invested enough and love the story enough to be excited for the next part. But I hope we get the action we deserve in the next one.

I feel like a lot of people didn’t like the second book as much as they did the first, but I really enjoyed it. I find that it is rare to read a book where you get insight into a character after they’ve fulfilled their destiny. I continue to love Xiala, I actually wanted Naranpa’s POV this time around, and I’m excited by the introduction of new characters. Can’t wait for the final book!
