4/5 stars. The ending really brought this one home and has me anticipating book three already. I also loved getting a peak inside a few new characters heads in this one. Xiala continues to be my favourite and I’m really anxious to see where her story thread goes.
I liked Fevered Star, but not as much as I liked Black Sun. It was great, but not much happens. It's setting the stage and moving the players into position for the next book. Still love all of the characters, and love learning more about each of them. Interesting connections were made, and it made me super excited for the next book. I just wish a there would have been a bit more happening in this book. It's a small criticism, though. I love this world that Roanhorse is building, and am excited to continue on with the series.

What a stellar second book. The unpacked of history of Tova and all the kingdoms and peoples in the land. I love the characters and twists and turns and I can’t wait to read Mirrored Heavens. How will they continue? Who is the true villain and who the true hero? Love this series!!!
Roanhorse does not disappoint. What an amazing work of prose! The worldbuilding has blown wide open, and I am already salivating for the sequel.
