The Wolf Den looks at women's roles in Pompeii. The story centers on the prostitute slaves found within Pompeii's famous brothels. It is the relationships of the women to each other that is the focus (not the sex, which while an important factor to the story is not driving force in the narrative). I wound suggest this book to all people interested in the role of women with this ancient civilization.
