En este tomo encontramos a un Peter Parker Mauro, que, además de enfrentarse al menos de turno, se preocupa por su entorno y por devolver algo a su comunidad.

Solid graphic novel that hits all the main beats of the character. Great art too and definitely a page turner.

It's a Spider-Man story, and an okay one. It has a good amount of heart and Spider-Man does pull off being beaten down emotionally (and physically) well. The downside of this comic is that the biggest dramatic tension comes from "it looks like Spider-Man might really die this time this villain is really tough," which doesn't work because we all know that Spider-Man isn't going to die this time. I would have appreciated more focus on the "does Spider-Man have the guts to actually kill this villain?" and "Spider-Man struggles to be a teacher" plotlines.

I read this as a prelude to the book Darkest Hours by Jim Butcher.

Blasted through this collection in a single sitting, and I liked it just fine. I love the idea of Peter becoming a teacher (surprise!) and his desire to make science engaging for the kids. The conversation he has with Ezekiel is interesting in that it attempts to explain why most of Spider-Man's villains have some animalistic connection. I'm interested to see if this goes anywhere in future installments. The big bad here, Morlun, is fairly uninteresting. He's got a horror-film vibe about him, with his grey skin, his long, dark black hair, and his stoic promises to never stop pursuing his target until he captures him. Lots of big ideas that were set up that feel ripe for harvesting in later issues. I hope it pays off.

This was fun but some aspects aged poorly. It isn't overt but there's a definite moral panic of kids and their video games and drinking
