Like Before I Fall, I needed some time to figure out how I felt about this book and it's ending before writing a review (apparently it takes me 10 days to do so). This book quickly hooked me and while the switching between the sisters points of view and also between before and after was a little confusing at times, overall it was an fast, easy read. I didn't catch on to the twist until just before it was revealed. I don't think I would have caught on to it at all if I hadn't recently read a book with a similar twist. Like all Lauren Oliver books it was really well written. However, I thought the description of the book was very misleading. I expected something completely different based in the description. Still, I think this is one of her better books and of her stand alone's I would recommend it before the others.

Quick and enjoyable YA thriller! This story switches perspectives primarily between Nick and her younger sister Dara, with occasional additions of newspaper articles and emails from other characters. It switches timelines from before the accident, and after the accident. I thought overall the fluidity of the narrations was really well done and how after the big reveal near the end I could look back at specific scenes and it would all still make sense.
Overall really enjoyed this book and it mostly had me hooked, there were moments of impatience where I found myself skipping paragraphs because I just wanted to find out what was happening. The plot twist was good but also I feel like has been done before with many other popular books, so I wasn't necessarily surprised by it. But all in all, was a solid quick read with a good plot and characters I felt drawn to.

awful

Tried so hard to like this book. Made it just over half way thru and quit. So boring.

I guessed the ending half way through, but the writing was really compelling and I still read it in two sittings. Really fast paced and interesting concept although the hints I thought were too obvious too early on.

vanishing girls? more like...my vanishing memory of this book, girl!

okay. not my finest. but in my defense i'm setting myself up to review a book i remember almost nothing about. that's a scary thing. you try joking on the precipice! why don't i set you up on a diving board over a snake-infested pool and tell you to say something funny!

now i'm just procrastinating.

lauren oliver is an author i thought i liked, and then i realized she was actually just an author i'd read a lot of. all of her books are middling, two or three star reads for me, and even reflecting upon them is like jumping into a portal and ending up in 2015.

in other words, it's a hell i'm going to try to escape from right now.

part of a series i'm doing in which i review books i read a long time ago. kind of

Jednostavno nije bilo dovoljno napetosti, iznenađenja, nije ni previše "mračan", likovi nisu ostavili neki poseban dojam, sve u svemu, prosječno.

I have been a fan of Lauren Oliver’s writing since I first read her delirium trilogy, 2 years ago. So of course, I knew that when Vanishing Girls came out I had to get my hands on it. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a proof copy back in January so I picked it up as soon as I had the chance. This story immediately drew me in because it was unlike anything I had ever read before. I can not think of a book that focuses strongly on a sisterly relationship and that’s why I wanted to read this book more.

Both Nick and Dara were interesting to read about because they were different but also very similar in how they felt. I loved reading the book from both of their perspectives because the story felt more real coming from both of their points of view. I must admit, I leaned slightly more towards Nick as her attitude was more similar to what mine would be in her situation but I really enjoyed Dara as well.

wOw i absolutely loved loved loved this

This book got me out of my reading slump, however that plot twist was such a cop out. I had an idea that it would be her with multiple personality disorders and the sister was dead but I feel like that's so much like we were liars. I thought it would be something more original. I didn't like it and it therefore disappointed me.
