I am continuing my binge of this series. I tried to read something else but this series was calling to me. In this book Kate goes undercover to help with an investigation involving an Amish community in New York. I enjoyed the change of scenery in this book and the different people that she met and developed relationships with. A solid and great book.

I really enjoyed this book (I enjoy all the books, lol), but this one was especially fascinating. Kate gets hired by a different county to go undercover in an extremely strict and conservative Amish community—even more so than the one in Painter’s Mill—after a young Amish teen is found murdered and there are whispers of possible child abuse. We get a glimpse of Kate living among the Amish as a plain widow in upstate New York. All the twists and turns are there, as always.
I read this one out of order. I'm reliant on when the books are available at the library.
The books need to be read in order so you get the flow of Kate and Tomasetti's relationship.

Among the Wicked – Linda Castillo
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars)
I love this series. Kate Burkholder is everything I want in a lead character, tough, smart, and deeply human, with just enough darkness in her past to keep things interesting. Her Amish background adds such a unique layer to her work as a police chief, and it’s always fascinating to see her navigate both worlds.
Among the Wicked had me guessing right up until the end. The undercover plotline was tense, atmospheric, and full of the small-town secrets Castillo does so well. Not my absolute favourite in the series, but still a strong, gripping read that kept me turning pages late into the night.
Highly recommend if you like a gritty, emotional mystery with a badass female lead.
