Well written and thought provoking, Demon-Haunted World is a book that is accessible to everyone without dumbing down it's issues. A must read on critical thinking, it's importance and the dangers that humanity faces when people aren't educated about the world around them.

I love reading anything by Carl Sagan. It was a surprise to get to the end of the book and realize that I finished it almost exactly 20 years after his death. He would certainly have plenty to say about all the things that have happened since this book was published. His encouragements for higher education, critical thinking and logical reasoning have always been important, but probably more so now in the United States than ever. This book gave me better ways to look at the world and to interact with the people around me. I'll definitely be doing my part from now on to spread his ideas of the importance of science education and hopefully, through his teachings, improve the lives of people I meet. Thank you Dr. Sagan for everything you gave us while you were here.

Carl Sagan was a huge icon for me growing up (despite him passing before I was even born) and I’ve wanted to read this for years. Absolutely did not disappoint. Reading this almost 30 years since it was first published and its kind of terrifying how accurately Sagan predicted the decline of American education and the rise of a conservative facist government in its wake. Despite all that doom and gloom, Sagan also gives us detailed instruction manual to combat the rampant misinformation and lack of education that permeates our culture, which he humorously calls The Baloney Detection Kit.
Overall this is an incredible book that takes a strong and decisive stance against the new age mysticism and the often ignorant and sometimes even racist and misogynistic culture it breeds. Anyone and everyone should read this book and take its message to heart.

Frederick Douglass taught us that literacy is the path from slavery to freedom. There are many kinds of slavery and many kinds of freedom. But reading is still the path.

Bilim ve bilimsel düşünme adına değerli bir eser. Kainatta küçücük bir zerre kadar hükmümüz var ve hurafelerle mücadelede bilim adına çok yolumuz olduğunu hatırlatıyor!
I love Carl Sagan, and I get that he's trying to push back against fanaticism, but this is just a wet blanket on everything we don't understand in the world. Sorry, Carl, but there is magic in the world--even if it's just technology that we might *never* understand.
Carl Sagan was brilliant. I’ve wanted to read this for years, and this did not disappoint. It’s scary how correctly he predicted the spread of disinformation in America, and how dangerous that would be to use politically. He truly saw our current national disgraces coming, especially with cult of misinformation that has enabled a violent, fascist bigot to now be elected president twice.
Still essential reading. With Zinn's People's History of the United States, should be required reading in school. The earlier the better.
