The first half and a bit more of this book is incredible, the final quarter just got a bit too chaotic for me personally, I know it's an insane story but I wish it were just a bit more grounded. Still loved this book however, it's so visceral and I know the exact feeling of having great friends yet still wanting to fit in, to lose the label of outcast. Just loved it.

Darkly funny and deeply sad. At times also eerie, ominous, and disorienting in the best kind of way. A take on horror, creativity, loneliness, and the academic world that I didn’t know I needed. The ending was rather ambiguous, and I’m still digesting whether I liked how things wrapped up, but overall it was a really engaging ride!

This book was genuinely so insane and I think we have a toxic relationship. Samantha's voice in the first half of the book is so pretentious and the way she tries to set herself apart from the bunnies pretentious writing is amusing because she's not far from that critique as well. This book explores what it means to be truly lonely, what it means to have class and privilege, female friendships and their horrors. Upon reading the second half of the book, you begin to realize why Samantha's voice was set up the way it was and how it changes. It really messes with your mind in the best way. This book creeped me the fuck out, but knowing all that I know now, I am definitely going to read this again and see all that I missed. Thank you Mona Awad for this mindfuck of a book.

dark, funny, unexpectedly emotional, and a bit campy. an interesting take on self-interest and self-pity and what we’d tolerate for a sense of belonging.
