It was fine, did not love it. Didn't like it, actually.
Going in, I expected to like Charlie less and Miles more. I usually love a character that is a writer.
Not this time. Miles was a jerk to everyone, particularly those trying to be his friends. I'm shocked he even had the one friend he did and shocked Charlie managed to fall for him. He was never nice to anyone that I can think of. Even when he was being nice, it was only marginal. He wasn't even grateful when people went above and beyond to try to help him.
Charlie was always called out for being sort of a cad but he was kind and cared about everyone. It was clear why he had so many friends (and Miles had one). I loved all of Charlie's friends, they were lovely and the stars.
Not a fan of how women were treated in the book either, honestly. Mainly Charlie's fiancee (Charlie was good to her, but mostly no one else was, and it got on my nerves.)

More charming than I expected! The start took a bit to draw me in, but I ended up really loving all the characters. Charlie and Miles were such a great pair and I was really rooting for them. The plot was sufficiently twisty and the emotional moments hit really well. Definitely would recommend this one for a heartfelt queer hist-rom.
There's really no plot, all of the stakes negate themselves, and there are no consequences for anything. It's such a boring book and usually if you're going to be a plotless book with questionable stakes about a filthy smut writer there's enough smut to make it worth your while, but this is mainly closed door.

Stunningly well written romance. I particularly enjoyed the historical details that were true to period, both from costume to philosophical outlook.
