This was kind of a mess for me. I couldn't even finish it.
I don't think the author is a bad writer, I just think the story wasn't for me.
I didn't much like the characters or what was done with them. Also, it was a bit bland.
I do still appreciate the chance to read and review.

Wow this book is breathtakingly beautiful and horrific at the same time. I loved the story and the characters and love the way this author brings us into a story thinking one way and then completely changing our view in the next breath. Loved it and the ending was great.
This is the first Adele Parks book I’ve read in a long time and her plots have taken on a new genre which I was not disappointed in. I wasn’t really sure what to expect other than this book would revolve around lies. And of course it did, but the story was not what I was expecting and I really enjoyed how the plot evolved and the twists and turns I often wasn’t expecting. I have to say though, the ending literally left me saying “WTF”!!
I’ve seen some reviews label this slow paced, but since I read this in a day I can’t say I agree. I don’t think that it was the best plot I’ve ever read but I did want to finish. Whilst some elements were a little predictable, some kept me on edge throughout.
The depiction of the spiral downwards of an alcoholic was very accurate and upsetting. I grew very attached the the character of Millie who just seemed so sweet. The friendship of Lucy and Connie was so lovely.
Some of my least favourite elements was the poor kitten’s death !! Why?? Another element I didn’t like was that of the “twist” being that she was driving but the writing made this rather clear? The epilogue was just strange to me..

Unlikeable characters and it doesn't help that the book was slow. It was honestly a struggle to get through. I did like the twists, I don't think anyone could have seen the final one coming. I felt like the author rushed through some of the major scenes or just end them abruptly. Like she couldn't give us more or even explain it what the heck just happened but yet the rest of the novel was dragged out.

Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks does have its twists and turns and some unknowns, but it is more family drama than thriller. The first half of the book centers more on the marriage, and the second half deals more with the reasons behind the big lie of the book. The story of the marriage is the more engaging one as it is more intimate, personal one.

0 Stars= I did not finish
TRIGGER WARNINGS: ALCOHOLISM, SEXUAL ASSUALT, INTERTILITY, TRAMATIC CHILD INJURY
This book ended up being a DNF for me. I got to page 178 and therefore feel like I gave it a very fair chance before throwing in the towel.

Throughout the book, I believe the author meant for us to feel sorry for Daisy (the mom) and be pissed off at Simon (the dad). For some reason, I felt the opposite. I could not stand Daisy and found her to be quite insufferable. It was like all she did was put down her husband and preach about how perfect and amazing she and Millie (their daughter) were. Get off your high horse, girl, and put away that "holier and thou" attitude. Please and thank you.
Daisy has turned a blind eye to Simon's alcoholism for years. YEARS. It leads to the occurrence of a catastrophic event, and we are supposed to believe he is the only one to blame? That is not the move, Daisy. That is not it, honey. After said event occurred, Daisy babied Millie to high hell, and I just couldn't deal with that. Maybe it's because I'm not a mother and never wish to be one. I don't know. Daisy is shiesty. Shiesty, shiesty, shiesty!
This is marketed as being a thriller of sorts and in some ways it is. But I personally feel like this is more of a story showing how alcoholism can wreak havoc on a family and the lives of the people they love. I suppose it is a domestic thriller of sorts.
I did jump ahead to the epilogue and read the twist that was in there. All I can say is, WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT MALARKY!? What in the actual Peter, Paul, and Mary was that? Adele Parks must have been puffing the magic dragon when she thought up that little gem.

I actually felt horrible for Simon and didn't have a lick of sympathy for Daisy. But at the end of the day, Daisy seemed to think she was some kind of angel. And I love that for her. Just not for the readers.
This book just fell flat for me on so many levels. The only lie here is that this story is worth reading.

Spoiler
Daisy was so desperate for a child, and after their failed IVF attempt, she apparently decided to take matters into her own hands. She found a used condom in the bathroom trash can (while at a party) and INSEMINATED herself with the sperm inside. That is 50 shades of crazy. Is that even possible? And it was her BEST FRIEND'S HUSBAND'S SPERM! That is so messed up.
