This was given to me by a church member several months ago and I just kept sticking it on the bottom of my tbr pile. Then Sunday she asked what I thought of it - so I committed to reading it. The funny thing - another couple from the church brought a copy to my husband on Sunday for me to read. They told him it was really good - but warned him about the part that talks about the baby they had lost (as they were concerned this would be hard for me to read since we lost our son Caleb Levi back in October). I did finish it - and thought over all it was a good book. However I did find some of the information provided to be a little over the top or long winded (it could have been left our and not affected the telling of the entire story). In fact there is some information that really is not needed at all - but gives back information of sorts to what was going on in Burpo's personal life as a pastor/dad. I will be honest that I skipped over these parts because they were boring to me and read mainly the accounts of Colton's retelling of his experiences.

Though astonishing I still don't believe that God would allow someone fully into heaven only to send him out again. Even John the Revelator's experience is a vision of heaven. I do however believe in the spirit world and God's divine intervention as well as vision of what is to come in the way of heaven.

Be prepared to cry as you read it. Especially if you have experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth. This was agonizing for me because that is a wound that is so tender for so long even when you are trusting in the Lord.

This was a very quick read. I found it very interesting in many ways and would suggest it to anyone who needs a positive ending to a story and needs a little extra time thinking about heaven and God.

Heaven is For Real is a cute (true) story about a boy who took a trip to Heaven while on the operating table. If you didn't believe before, this book will leave you second guessing yourself. True inspiration and very touching. I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone.

i actually really liked this book despite the harsh criticism of the evangelical nature of it. i couldn't help but be reminded of my friends that suffered a huge tragedy in which they lost two sons, mom was in a coma for a month and had multiple surgeries. They too had the experience of small miracles being revealed to them gradually concerning their daughter. Like the family in this book, the tragedy led to an increased awareness of the sanctity of life, and helped heal wounds of the past and the raw, physical and emotional wounds of the present. How is that a bad thing? With so many people suffering in the world, even Non-Christians must recognize the value of hope. This is one evangelical family's testimonial. If you chose to read their story, don't criticize if their belief system is different than yours. That just highlights your own intolerances.

This is one of the best books I have ever read in my whole life. This book gave me instant chills while I'm reading it. Every single detail about Heaven, and the ones who are there and who are not, gave me goosebumps! I love this book cos it makes me not only believe in Heaven but it makes me visualize Heaven and even though I believe in Jesus, God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, Mother Mary, St. John the Baptist, and many more even without seeing them yet, now my faith is stronger! This also gives hope. Hope that someday we, too, are going to Heaven and have wings, halos, just like angels. Most of the details in the Bible about Heaven and about the people are accurate and alike to that of Colton's descriptions. This is a MUST to read book and if you don't get chills while reading this, maybe you need to be more faithful and prayerful! The author also mentions a similar story of Colton, about a young girl who had similar experience about Heaven and the ones who are there. She painted the ACTUAL picture of Jesus and it's included in this book. This book surely changed me, made me feel deeper in spirituality and also scared me. EVERYONE must read this.

God bless!

This book is a short easy read. I liked it because it made me think about what it would be like in heaven. Hearing the details about heaven from a 4 year old was fascinating. You could just imagine the wheels turning in his head.

My mom got me this book before the movie came out. I was very much raised to read the book before the movie. I never ended up reading the book or watching the movie. It’s weird to think too much about it since this book isn’t fiction. But overall it was a nice read, lighthearted and warm.

3.5⭐️ I enjoyed it.
