Astonishing and faith promoting. Definitely a book that keeps you thinking long after you put it down.
Someone said it best.......
"As a true memoir - astounding.
As a novel - an okay read.
As an audiobook - kill it with fire"

I had a hard time experiencing this book in spiritual terms. I do believe in God and in a spiritual dimension, but I just couldn't connect to this boy's experience. Maybe because his experience was mediated by his parents and by a ghost writer. Maybe that made it too far removed. I found that the book talked way too much about the physical description of heaven and not enough about the import for our lives. The detail of "he saw this, he say that, and it looked like this, and it looked like that" reads too much like "please, please believe that it's true because he can paint a vivid picture." But if I'm talking to someone who has been in heaven, more urgent to me is, "What is God's message to us? How has it changed you as a person? What are you doing differently with your life? What earthly situations help you recreate the heavenly feeling? What do we need to do to return to God?" Where is the message beyond, "And it really happened"? The book misses a big opportunity to witness to the message.
As a Christian I believe in heaven. However, I have always found it hard to wrap my brain around what exactly that means. This book made heaven much more concrete in my mind. It was a touching story that helped deepen my faith.
I really enjoyed this book. It is a truly touching story, and a book anyone would enjoy.
Very convincing, very well written. Gives a whole new perspective on life after death. Encouraging for those who love Jesus

Story about Colton Burpo who has surgery aged 3 and later tells his parents that he visited heaven during the surgery. The book is written by his father who recalls Colton's surgery and the claims he makes afterwards. Well written and a quick read - was interesting to learn about their faith
This was such an amazing and inspirational read (or listen in my case). Definitely had goosebumps like the entire time and probably almost cried a few times as well. Amazing.
