This was probably my favourite of the series so far. I love Rhory as a protagonist and Calix is just a stunningly beautiful man who i thoroughly enjoyed reading about. The way their relationship grew and developed was incredible and didn’t feel rushed despite the series of events that happened between them.

I think the more serious elements of the story such as the domestic violence were handled quite well, the fear could be felt through the page and Rhory’s perspective is one that is so heartbreakingly common in abusive relationships.

Loved seeing Auriol, Marius and Jak again. My hate for mothers in this series continues and my heart breaks for Millicent; she was a queen from start to end.

The only thing I did find a little frustrating toward the end was the lack of communication between Calix and Rhory. Whilst I do understand from a narrative sense why it was done, watching Rhory and Calix repeatedly slip through each other’s fingers because one or the other wasn’t able to open up and be honest was mildly infuriating.
