The softest of the series (not that any of them are soft by most standards) - the MMC has the least learning and removing his head from his own ass to do, in contrast to the other MMCs. This is a trust book and not a grovel book, unlike the rest of the series. It was hard being in anxiety mode with the FMC for so much of the time, but I was still very drawn in and tore through it.
A new favourite to end the year

I did NOT want this book to end. I wanted to read and keep reading until the end of time and let Annie and Justus heal my heart and my soul and any tiny scar within me.
Such a beautiful, heartbreaking tale of healing and forgiveness a d understanding. A different view on anxiety and how it poison one's mind and affecting their life.
As always, the take on shifters and shifter life is amazing ❤️

Justus and Annie’s story is finally here!! And it was worth the wait. First Pack - Lost Pack - this pack had such an interesting storyline. All of the Five Packs stories have been unique because each of the packs operate differently and we get to see an alternative pack structure and interaction between the shifters. Justus’s perspective on pack dynamics and leadership helps him better a become mate.
And sweet Annie finally gets her HEA. So much to overcome and heal, and she does it was strength and bravery.
If you’re new to Five Packs, you can read this standalone, but it will make more sense if you read The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate (Book 1) first.

I felt for Annie but POOR JUSTUS. so interesting finally seeing a rejection happening the other way around.
So much heart packed in one novel, everything about this was just so compelling and thoughtful.
Annie's life hasn't been sunshine and rainbows but she's done the best to get by and learned coping skills to get her through. Her life is thrown for a loop when Justus, a wolf from the Last Pack, appears at her cabin and it becomes clear that he is her fated mate. Their initial mating isn't what either one of them expected and Justus walks away and leaves Annie to pick up the pieces.
This is my first book by Cate C Wells and although this is the fifth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. The author does a good job with the world-building and the although the story starts off a little slow and is very emotional as Annie has a lot of things to work through. Annie is such a strong woman and I loved reading about her becoming more confident in herself and realizing just what she is capable of. Justus also had a lot of growing up to do and once he realizes the true reasons for Annie's reactions, he really steps up in showing her just how serious he is about his feelings for her. I really enjoyed this second change shifter romance.
