Very interesting but ultimately unsatisfactory. This partly due to the desire of having stories with a beginning a middle and an end, especially in real life situations. I wanted to know what happened to the individuals in each chapter but was left guessing. I understand this perhaps wasn't the point of the book but I am only human.

Interesting account of the work of a preeminent psychotherapist and his patients stories. On one hand, nothing happens and it confirms my sense that therapy of this sort can offer very little to patients. On the other the little it does offer is quite a lot in many cases and different conscious states open realms of possibility.
The author opens himself up but only a small crack into his world. A professional distance seems to appear when he recounts his personal dimension.

Great writing about his therapeutic clients and practice, and aspects of the human condition, even if his quasi-medical psychoanalytic illusions sometimes peek through his essential humanity.

Umm. Bought this after a University colleague (who belonged to the 'popular girls' clique) mentioned it in a workshop at Trainers' conference last November.
Not the great edifying tome full of insight I'd hoped.

Easy, breezy cover girl read, but also insightful and calming. Good introduction to what happens during psychoanalysis and some interesting cases that everyone will relate to, I would have liked a bit more depth but I also appreciated the book's readability.

Lovely read. For a non fiction book I don’t think I really had any takeaways or life lessons from this book but was very enjoyable to read.
