Thought-provoking and heart-wrenching. It took almost half the book to get into the groove of the narration, but once I did it hit hard. Levels of poverty you simply don't think about.

A really moving memoir about a poor Irish boy’s childhood. It was sad to see his father consistently battle with addiction. I can see why there would be a second book in the series as you spend a lot of time getting to know him only to not find out how things turned out for him.

I would highly recommend the audiobook as it is author read and it felt like he was just telling you his story. Plus I loved hearing him sing.

Thanks to my buddy read partner for helping me finally read this book that I have owned for many years.

Heartbreaking yet hopeful. Beautifully written. Paints a vivid picture of a time and place.

This was a really good book. Very meaningful re-telling of his childhood. I would like to read the rest.

Interesting memoir of a rough childhood. To see where Frank McCourt has come from such a humble beginning is inspiring to say the least.

Excellent book, but at times I found it a bit twee.
