I loved Michael and Stella so much! Their love was so cute and they had such amazing chemistry together. Their romance was so good that I actually got frustrated towards the end because the 3rd act conflict was so drawn out.  There was a lot of miscommunication even though their mutual love was so dang obvious and I was very over the Phillip drama. The ending felt so fast despite being drawn out for so long, but it was cute. This book walked along a fine line between cliche and cute the entire time, often being both, along with cringey.

Warning! There’s a lot of second hand embarrassment to be felt from this book, which was sooo genuinely painful to listen to at times.

Minus half a star for the blatant lack of a much needed HR department to deal with Phillip’s disgusting behavior.

Genderbent Pretty Woman??? Autistic representation in the MC??? POC author???  FAKE DATING??? Sign me UPPP!

I never thought a man named Michael could bring me to my knees but I KNEEL CORRECTED!!😩🥵

-5 stars because the SA/Sexual harassment  in this book was always brushed under the rug and never acknowledged by the mc. I know her autism made her see the situation differently, but I feel like it was not focused on enough/cleared up enough and maybe didn’t send great messaging. And for the constant mentioning of Michael’s daddy issues with no clear resolution for that either.

(another library audiobook rental)

this was NOT The Heart Principle, but that’s okay. it serves its purpose.

truly full of gratuitous smut, this was very much a romance novel. after the half a dozen sex scenes, i understood why it was so popular. i wonder why the author toned it down so much for the next two books? this was spicy in every other chapter!

overall a fun premise—who doesn’t love Pretty Woman? but Michael’s inconsistent character (and his weird, occasionally right occasionally wrong understanding of consent) was wild to me. Stella was fine, though her arc seemed rushed toward the end.

fun read, but certainly not Helen Hoang’s best work.

Real wake up call to start reading synopses better because the amount of smut in this was an unexpected surprise (luckily, it was usually pretty damn good). Stella is a dream of a main character but Michael gave me the ick after the first half of the book with the way he was talking about Stella as "something to fix". The dual POV definitely threw me off towards the end because although I loved the mutual pining, having both of them so terribly clueless after acting like newlyweds for most of the book was painful. Great first half, second half would have been better if Michael could just shut up and stop acting like his stalker.

It's well-written, but romance is not my thing. Read for a book club.

As an autistic woman, this was a heartfelt romance with growth and understanding on both sides as well as a great depiction of how being autistic can feel. I read it in one sitting and cannot wait to read more Helen Hoang.
