Another great one by Ronson.

Realised after starting that I had already borrowed this from the library once upon a time. Still good fun.

Great book with a lot of building intensity. Like Men Who Stare at Goats and The Psychopath Test, Ronson does a great job of falling effortlessly into the rabbit hold of radical extremists and conspiracy theorists. With a fast-paced writing style and a strong narrative, this is a quick an easy read. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in the world of extremism.

I think if I would have read this when it was published I would have loved it, but most of what he covered is mainstream knowledge now. I still really appreciate his style of humorous journalism.

Not as good as 'So you've been publicly shamed', but still pretty good. Ronson talks to various 'extremists' and follows them around a bit. I guess I was hoping for a bit more depth - why do people fall into extremism, why are we so fascinated with them? 'Publicly shamed' goes into this topic a bit more.

I love Jon Ronson. I love how easy his books are to read, and his acerbic sense of humour.

It was really interesting to read about all these controversial figures, particularly Alex Jones, before they became world famous. It's interesting to see all of this post 9/11 when it really was just quirky, and before everyone realised how dangerous it all was.
adventurous informative fast-paced

  • bizarre. Very difficult to know what to make of it - though you end up with a conviction that there really are those that believe in lizard people. The Bilderberg group and conspiracies surrounding world rulers fill most of the book - by the time you have finished reading, you feel distinctly uneasy - both with conspiracy theorists and current world powers.

adventurous funny mysterious medium-paced

Fantastic piece of comedic nonfiction, looking into the world of extremism. 20 years old now, but still as relevant as ever. I really like Jon Ronson’s voice in this, and I can’t wait to read more.
