I enjoyed this story very much. I loved having a chronically ill main character and I think the author handled telling her story beautifully. Laniah was also a deeply infuriating MC haha she was so stubborn and emotionally immature that it made it hard for me to root for her at times. Isaac was perfect, obviously and I just wanted to see him happy and if Laniah was it for him then so be it but chillllld that woman was driving me up the walls. Isaac did not deserve to be treated the way he was. Lovely book overall even if I wish the FMC had maybe gotten some grief counselling or therapy…

This book goes down as the only one I can consciously recall having read in one day, start to finish. Admittedly it was on a travel day with ample reading opportunity, but still. It felt good.

A LOVE LIKE THE SUN is a friends to lovers romance with a fake dating trope—say less. It also gave me the vibes of that one season of that one show, The Baker and the Beauty, except the characters were childhood friends before one’s rise to stardom, and the family shop being saved was for hair care products, not a bakery. Oh, and without Calle Ocho Guy (iykyk).

Anyway. While there may have been some parts of the romance I found cheesy (often a very Me thing), I obviously inhaled the story and therefore, have to recommend.

She started out great I was HOOKED, but then she lost me. I started getting SICK of Laniah’s inner monologue like girl get REAL just let yourself enjoy something for once without thinking of what will go wrong or thinking that you don’t deserve it because you don’t want to end up like [fill in blank]

Best friends turned to lovers...
I was hoping to like this more, but it was an ok story. There were some sweet moments in the book and I felt for the main character as she battled with her health. This read too much of a YA for me, other than the spicy parts. There were times I wanted to shake the MC as she kept pushing the guy away.

Good read. I wasn't sure why she didn't feel worthy. My heart ached for the main character.
