Hate to do this to ya, Kurt, but man was this just ramblin'. Random anecdotes, some of which I've read in his other books. Felt extremely repetitive. No idea even what I read lmao. Twas not science fiction, that's for sure. Not even certain what the point of the whole Timequake was anyway.. Didn't explain anything, I was just confused the whole time.
This is a paradox of memoir and fiction, starring Vonnegut and his long-time fictional stand-in, Kilgore Trout. It is a beautiful elegy, wholly unique, and filled with humor and wisdom.

I found this book weird, interesting, and hilarious. I loved how it was semi autobiographical but mostly fiction. The idea of the timequake and having a rerun for ten years of your life; losing free will would be, well it would be weird. But all in all another good book by him that I enjoyed reading
Vonnegut obviously thought Timequake his last piece of fiction. To celebrate, he jettisons as much idea of story as he ever did, building everything in this book around the remains of what was meant to be his final piece. Like Nabokov's Last of the Harlequins, two postmodern kings use their final fiction to manipulate the idea of biography. Vonnegut, though, allows for more vulnerability.
Breaking the wall between him and Kilgore Trout, Vonnegut shows how him and his self insert differ and relate. He also goes through heartbreak in his family with his trademark humour, and just about any other idea that popped into his head as well. Listen: like Breakfast of Champions, how much you like Timequake may depend on how much you tolerate tangents in the authors company. Considering how much time I've spent with Vonnegut over fourteen novels, I wish for a Timequake so I can go back to the beginning and spend the time again.
Not a Great last novel, but a great Last Novel
7.5/10

I don't really have a good handle on this one. I had spent like 5 months reading all the KV I could get my hands on and this was my last one other than some short stories, I think. At this point I was feeling bad for all the other KV characters because Kilgore Trout gets all the glory. He's in or is mentioned in at least 8 novels (I also just learned that he is NOT based on KV but rather a friend of his he worked with at the Saab dealership who was an obscure sci-fi writer who didn't have any money). I had also just read Man Without a Country which is, I swear, all of the non-Timequake story line stuff distilled into one small paperback. It was still a great read because I am pretty sure that is all KV was ever capable of (I am totally one step away from writing Vonnegut Fan Fiction, so you don't have to listen to me) but I think was just getting burned out.
