Caught In The Axe is the first book of Maine Lumberjacks series of interconnected standalones. This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to go back and read more of their work! Owen is back in town to help his brothers straighten out the pile of poo that their dad left them in. I loved his grumpy and broody butt! He knows he shouldn’t want Lila since she is his brother’s ex and she is too young for him. I loved how he was with her. Lila is so sweet and full of sunshine and deserves the best after everything she’s been through.I absolutely loved Owen and Lila and you could feel their chemistry and connection from the beginning. I’m in love with this world and can’t wait to read more of it!

Caught in the Axe is the 1st book in the Maine Lumberjacks series and the series centers around the Hebert Brothers. This is Owen and Lila's story and it's a younger brother's ex, lumberjack, small town, workplace romance. The story gave us a good blend of mystery, steam, drama and funny moments and I enjoyed it.
Owen and Lila were wonderful together. They had great chemistry, wonderful banter and worked really well together. They really completed each other and I enjoyed seeing how their relationship bloomed considering he was her ex's older brother. Owen was such a cinnamon roll hero who went out of his way to spoil Lila and he had he had me swooning in quite a few scenes.
There was a cast of secondary characters who helped move the story forward and I loved that we got to meet the other brothers who will no doubt be featured in the rest of the series.
I will admit though, there were certain parts of the story that dragged a bit but it eventually picked up. The explosive ending sets us up for book 2 and I can't wait for it. This was a great start to the series and I would recommend it to lovers of small town romance.
Just not for me. I was bored. Couldn’t get into it. Especially after learning the FMC was the ex girlfriend of the MMC. A serious ex girlfriend.

I really liked Owen and Lila. The chemistry between them was explosive. I loved the way that Owen supported Lila. He wanted her to live her best life. He did not want her to give anything up for him. I love to see it! But Owen definitely had a dirty mouth. He says things like:
"You are now my favorite meal. Get used to it, because I'm going to be eating you every day."
Speechless. Honestly speechless.
I loved that we got to see the other characters from the other Lovewell books. I loved Tucker. He is such a funny kid and can dish it. And how can I forget Clive? I love that moose!
I cannot wait for the rest of the series. I need them all now!
Thank you Daphne for this ARC
