This is the first book in this series and let me tell you, it started off very well.
We have Owen and Lila, two people who couldn't be more different but at the same time so similar. Owen is the (half) older brother of her ex-boyfriend, older than her by 10 years and unattainable, but what Lila doesn't know is that our man is very sensitive and just wants the best for everyone, then there is our Lila who is a ray of sunshine who doesn't deserve anything bad, she just wants to get ahead and take care of herself and be a professional and here I have to say that I was very moved to read how Owen helped her with that.
These two end up together when our girl starts working with Owen to help him sell his family's lumber factory due to financial problems (listen, there's a whole plot that I found fascinating), which is why he's back in town. He feels an immediate attraction to her, but when he finds out that she is his half brother's ex, he holds back, but let's be honest, we know that won't last long and when they finally get together, it's PURE DYNAMITE, the chemistry they had was explosive.
These two were born to be together, how wonderful does Owen treat Lila? How loved did he make her feel with the little details? Please, I want one for myself; in addition to how Lila made him feel seen, made him question everything and I loved that, the story of these two in general was good, it flowed quite well and I loved seeing cameos of old characters that I loved a lot.
The Hebert brothers stole my heart and I can't wait to read the next books in this series!!
thanks to the author agency for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

I guess I’m a fan of lumberjacks now, who knew?!
This is my first Daphne Elliot book and it’s safe to say it’s not my last. This is a workplace place romance with the added complication of Lila’s ex boyfriend is Owen’s brother. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. Lila is so open and honest with her feelings and while Owen is the opposite, he is still the sweetest book boyfriend. His understanding and care with Lila’s celiac’s disease was just perfect. It was also nice to see celiac’s disease was represented (and represented well) in this book.
Will they be able to overcome the challenges in their way to find their happily ever after? Read this book to find out!
I’m looking forward to traveling back to Maine for the next book in this series.
Thank you to Daphne Elliot and The Author Agency for the ARC of this book.
I’ve been so ready for the Hebert boys after meeting them in Daphne’s Lovewell Lumberjacks series. The Heberts are picking up the pieces of the family’s timber company left devastated by their father’s actions. In swoops Owen Hebert, lumbersnack stats daddy, to help with the financials and selling of the company. Some of y’all may have also had a sneak peek of Owen in the MomCom book, Mother Hater, by Daphne as well. 😉
Owen’s not so crazy to be back in Maine, preferring his job as CFO at DiLuca Construction in Boston. The situation gets dicier when his older brother Gus hires someone to help him dig through company files. That someone? Their younger brother’s ex-girlfriend, Lila. Throw in a little age gap, and Lila Webster is everything that Owen Hebert should not be lusting after.
I really enjoyed this story, and Owen is such an amazing book boyfriend. Lila has celiac, and the lengths that this man goes to make sure that she has food she can eat and enjoy is so swoon worthy. Not to mention all of the other little things the does for her. Their connection is magnetic from the very beginning, but when Owen recognizes her intellect and pushes and supports her career choices, I just melted. I do love a good mental connection on top of everything else, and they make my nerdy heart happy. 🥰
This book is fun, it’s swoony, it’s cozy, it’s steamy. And did I mention it has hot lumberjacks and a troublesome moose? I adore Lovewell, Maine, and I’m so happy Daphne has brought us back with this new series!

Owen 🧎🏻♀️ran away from the town and everything it held, but since his family needs him he is back there to clear the mess his dad created and help in every way he can. What he doesn’t know that his brother has hired someone to help me
Lila 👑 she went through a lot because of the Herbert’s but she knows she has to take the job for her dream. What she doesn’t realise is his Ex’s half brother has aged like a fine wine which she should not drink.
Okay the entire storyline was amazing, the way he was turned on with Lila dominating the conference room was a delight to read. I also liked how the family dynamic healed.
Them 💕 I ENJOYED THE SPICE, THE FEELS & ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK.

• THOUGHTS:
Owen is the sweetest thing ever!!! The level of connection he has with Lila is so freaking cute. He is tentative and observant. He just seems to click with Lila, and honestly, the same can be described for Lila. She notices all of Owen, see's hinlm for who he is. They almost speak the same language they are so in sync with one another. The kindness and thoughtfulness that is Owen jist makes you go "aaawwwww." Lila is strong and driven and has shown a level of maturity that you see with people who had to learn some hard lessons. Which is one of the reasons why Owen is good for her. The small town is rough on Lila, but she is able to just be her. I know I already said it. But seriously, the devotion Owen shows is so dang sweet. This lumber jack hottie is a true book boyfriend.
I am really curious about all the brothers and can't wait to dive into this family! CAUGHT IN THE AXE was a great start for a new series.
NARRATOR THOUGHTS:
•Narrators: Mollie Stark and Aiden Snow
•Duet Narration
•Listening at a 1.5 speed.
Mollie, man, she is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I love her voice so much, and she is able to capture Lila perfectly! Lila's attitude and who she is as a person. She does it flawlessly. Pair her with the deep growly Aiden Snow, and it's a match made in heaven. I think Aiden plays an older, needy guy just great! I really loved both of them in this duet style book! It's one I would highly recommend. Bravo!
RECOMMENDATION THOUGHTS:
I always encourage people to read what makes them happy. If it sounds good, read it! My reviews are just that, my opinions. I do, however, hope they are helpful and provide a little insight to help you in determining the next book you will pick up and enjoy. Happy reading, friends!

After reading this book, I want to now move up to the mountains. This little town was so cute, along with all the hot Hebrew brothers?! Yes. Please 🥵
Owen + Lila spend a lot of time together and she helps him sort out the family company. Owen knows he shouldn’t feel things for Lila since she’s his brother’s ex girlfriend and much younger than her, but he can’t help it. These two can’t deny the chemistry between them and when they finally give in, sparks fly. 💥
And then when she shows up and they both claim their feelings for one another in front of his family, just swoon! 🥹
This CAN be read as a standalone. No cheating and of course, a HEA 😍

As always Daphne Elliot delivers a book full of suspense, tension and some very good spice. I am actually obsessed with how much I enjoy these books.
These characters are so lovable, a geeky lumberjack?? YES PLEASE. Ex’s older brother? Heck yeah. Sprinkle in a little boss/assistant. I’m sold.
The chemistry, banter and tension between Owen and Lila was undeniable and I absolutely devoured it.
