3.5⭐️ rounded up
I’m honestly so happy with how this trilogy wrapped up, but I’m so sad it’s over!!

Hihi I giggled and kicked my feet. This is definitely more romance than fantasy but it’s just so good, come on!
Loved the 1st book, 2nd was an abrupt end, but the 3rd just went downhill for me.
I had been waiting so long for this book—the conclusion to the entire Veiled Kingdom world! I loved every second of it. The tension had me on edge the whole time, constantly needing to know what would happen next.
Dacre and Verena’s journey wrapped up in an incredible way, and I completely fell for Dacre in this book. His worship of Verena was everything, and the chemistry between them burned even brighter here.
That said, I felt like Verena still had some growing to do. I wanted her to step forward more, but instead, she often hid behind Dacre, who gave everything on the battlefield. That was the one thing I wished had been different.
The background lore was so interesting—they expanded on it even more in this book, which I absolutely loved. The little details about the temple, the characters’ histories—everything came together perfectly to build this world.
This trilogy ended so well, giving us everything we hoped for and more!

It was a decent book. The writing wasn’t the most amazing and there were some points that I side eyed a bit lol But overall the story is relatively compelling and the romance is decent.
i wanted to love this. this was supposed to be the epic conclusion, the grand finale, the book that would make everything worth it.
but this had the most confusing pacing in the world, like the story was sprinting to the finish line without ever taking the time to build tension or depth. and verena… she's in power because she's the heir, but there's nothing special about her. no sharp mind, no natural leadership, no meaningful presence. just vibes and a crown.
& i still don’t understand how the magic system in this world works. the concept of the vessel, something that should be pivotal, is vague and confusing. and aside from verena's magic, which is only vaguely explained, the magic used by anyone other than her father has no explanation whatsoever. it's just shadows, energy, and feelings.
overall, while i didn't love this book as much as i had hoped, the world remains intriguing. i wanted to see the HEA, and there were still aspects that kept me entertained.
