I really was hoping the final book would bring it home and instead I struggled to finish this book. The first book was great, the second was okay, and this one was a let down. While I wanted to know how things finished out in this series, I ended up skipping the romantic scenes and a lot of the internal dialogue characters had. It didn’t feel very believable and was pretty repetitive.

The story picks up right where The Hunted Heir ends and it's not pretty. Our poor girl Verena cannot catch a break and it steadily gets worse before it gets better.
We see new faces and old. We experience firsthand that love can withstand time and any hardship thrown its way. We see new love. And family bonds fray and strengthen. We see daddy dacre on his knees and my God I can't breathe
Most of all, we see women. Strong women. Women who fought silently because they had to. We see a cycle broken for the good of all. Women standing up and doing the damn thing.
