ugh the way this ended was so good, so sad I have to say goodbye to Verena and Dacre. I knew this was going to be such an amazing conclusion to the series, and ofc I was right! All the side characters really helped to bring the ending of this series together alongside Verena and Dacre. And oh boy the spice was SOOOO good. I cannot wait to read whatever Holly has planned next!!!

The Rivaled Crown picks up right where we left off in The Hunted Heir. Verena has been captured by her father - the king and is being held prisoner. He is trying to break her so he can wield her magic without protest. Verena dreams of Dacre rescuing her from this kingdom, from the torture she is facing at the hands of her father. But even if he does come, will it be too late? Will there be anything left of her?
They have taken the only woman he loves, Verena. Dacre needs to escape. He needs to find and save her. But when becomes a prisoner in the rebellion he once called home, it all seems impossible. He’s running out of time. He can still feel their bond though and he will do anything to have her back in his arms. Nothing and no one will stand in his way.
This is my favorite book of the series! I loved that we got more of Verena background and who she really was. There were so many things that got revealed in this story. Some of them I was shocked at. Verena’s father was not a father and he deserved what he got. It was nice to see Dacre’s father come around but not enough for me to like him lol. The few chapters towards the end had me a little worried. I’m happy with how the series ended but sad that it’s over. Verena and Dacre forever!

I can’t believe Dacre and Verena’s story is over! Holly did such a great job of wrapping things up and giving us closure. I binged this book in a day because I simply needed to know how their story ended. Would Verena escape her father? Would Dacre escape and save Verena? Would Kai and Wren FINALLY get together??? So many things to find out and we got all the answers!

Picked up right where the second book left off and sucked you in! Really loved the story - she has a great mix of emotions and growth woven throughout the plot.
Dacre was an incredible mmc 10/10. loved all the touch her and die/I’ll be the first to bow for you vibes.
The part that I thought could’ve been a little better were the battle scenes. Honestly idk if it’s just me but I felt so confused most of the time as to what was actually happening and it felt kinda choppy. But overall I was still able to get the gist. Then on the opposite end a lot of the internal dialogue could’ve been trimmed up as that could drag on at times too.
But overall good ending to the series!

I genuinely enjoyed the first book in this trilogy, but the the 2nd and 3rd book are just not it.
I felt like book 2 accomplished close to nothing and then this book all of a sudden was rewriting the world as we know it. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it certainly felt rushed and like things were coming out of nowhere. I think some of the third books plot and lore could have been worked into the 2nd book for a more cohesive trilogy
