This book felt like it included every possible cliché it possibly could. You have the jock, the cheerleader, the "good-boy", and the "bad-boy". Add an instant relationship, and you have the plot of this book. None of the characters were fleshed out, they all just fit into stereotypes. For the first half of this book, we just have Elain swooning over Will, and floating in her pool. I'm not sure if the twists were supposed to be surprising, but I saw them coming from miles away, and didn't care when they were revealed. I absolutely couldn't stand Elain, as her personality screamed "I'm not like other girls," and her only personality trait was loving Will. I read this book looking for a King Arthur retelling, and though you could say that's what this is, it didn't work out for me.
adventurous medium-paced

Fun in places but it dragged a bit in the 2nd half. Review to come!

awesome

Even after finishing this book, I still can't tell if I've read it when I was younger... -___-"

I'm sort of sick of King Arthur - years studying various versions of the story (Malory & other medieval versions) soured me on him - and he was everywhere (Babylon 5, Gargoyles...) but this is worth the pain.
Ellie's parents are medievalists and the family has moved to a new city for their studies. Ellie's coping with being in a new school and trying to find her place. She falls for the football star, conflict ensues with other girls.
The thing is, they're all reincarnations of characters from the Arthuriad. It's assumed that Ellie is the reincarnation of the Lady of Shalott, who she is named after. But is she really? And can she figure out a way for history to stop repeating?
Fun and fluffy.

I read this book back in middle school then bought it in high school because it was such a fantastic book. I love the twist in the story of King Arthur. Reincarnation of the characters? Yes, please. This book was one of my favorite YA novels, no doubt. I still have this book in my bookshelf.

Always worth the reread.

Way better than the movie. The book is a MUST have... The movie, however, you could do without.

Just about the best book by Meg Cabot EVER. Too bad the sequel sucked.
