Kind of childish, but t was better than the Disney Channel Movie.
i used to love this book when i was younger, and when i saw it at a used bookstore for 5 dollars, i couldn't resist! i still think it's great :)
A fun, quick read. Much better than the Disney Channel movie (which I thoroughly enjoyed), and a bit darker, so I see why Disney Disney-fied it to make it more kid-friendly.

Listened to this audiobook with my 9 year old who LOVED it. A great family car ride listen. Not any sort of literary marvel but we all enjoyed the relatively quick listen.

This book started a little slow for me, but managed to pick up and become pretty intriguing. While I'm not into medieval history and the storyline is pretty far fetched but I liked the main character Ellie. She was funny, strong, and super intelligent (I guess it helps that both of her parents were professors). I really enjoyed her relationship with Will was fun to read, and I think Cabot built up their chemistry very well. I should say that this is the first book I've read by Cabot and while it wasn't life altering, I wouldn't be averse to checking out another. Actually hoping there would be a sequel to AH but it seems they was a Manga comic trilogy afterwards? Weird.
Definitely a light read, but a fun fairy tale too.

About what you would expect from your run-of-the-mill YA book, haha. Read it because I wanted some sort of audiobook to motivate me to go on walks. Did it’s job!
Not as good as the first time I read it (then again, I was 14) but still enjoyable
2019 review:
I really liked this which means its gonna be rough trying to watch the movie again...

I have no clue as to why this was on my TBR list but it made the cut when I weeded out the list. I think because Cabot seems to be a popular YA writer and I wanted to try her and see why. In this book we get the retelling of KIng Arthur. I really didn't know much about this legend while reading the book. She does a good job of interlacing the history with her modern take on it.
Ellie is forced to moved to Maryland when her parents take a year off to write a book. Very quickly she is in the radar of the most popular guy in the school. While telling their story, it runs parallel with the history and kept my attention throughout the book. I recently discovered their is a genre on retelling fairy tales, not quite sure I would like them. This book made me want to take another look at these fairy tales.
The book was published in 2006 so it comes dated. It was refreshing to have teenagers without social media, cell phones and the internet to run their lives. This reads a little on the young side, so I would recommend it for tweens or young teenagers since their is no drugs, no sex and no drinking. The parents are present throughout the story. I would even tell older teenagers to read it because it is a simple story without the angst and drama.
