Maybe I was too young when I read this for the first time at the age of 12 while going through a very dark moment of my life. I remember not being able to finish it straight away, leaving the book aside for two weeks and then coming back to it. It was so graphically tragic that made my immature stomach turn, which might have been empathised by the fact that I was about the same age as the characters involved. Later, this book would mark me forever and would mold my taste for the twisted, self-flagellating side of humankind. It's an indispensable read in my opinion.

Memoir of Christiane F who was a 14 year old heroine addict in Berlin. It tells her story and how she and her friends ended up as prostitutes near Station Zoo. Crazy informative about drug use and does have a happy ending.
