I loved reading all these stories about love and how different people's experiences were. It was a quick read and kept me entertained with a new story every few pages. Great little book to read in February ❤️

A beautiful collection! These 42 essays offer a glimpse at the popular New York Times column that’s been exploring love — in all its many forms — since 2004. As with any collection, some stories stuck with me more than others but, with such variety, there should be something in here for every reader!
Though I “narrowed down” my favourites to 17 stories, I especially loved Brian Gittis’ “At the Hospital, An Interlude of Clarity”, Rachel Fields’ “The Five Stages of Ghosting Grief”, and Deborah Copaken’s “When Cupid is a Prying Journalist”. As well, “Two Men, Baby on the Way, and Me” had me thinking; “You May Want To Marry My Husband”, crying; and “Loved and Lost? It’s Ok, Especially If You Win”, laughing.
I’m excited to see how these essays were adapted — and to keep reading and discovering more stories from Modern Love!
Making a fool of yourself for love is ultimately about you, about how much you have to give and the distances you will travel to keep your heart wide open when everything around you makes you feel like slamming it shut…— Veronica Chambers

I have never heard of this column before reading this book, but all of these stories were beautiful. Stories of classic love, parental love, unconventional love. They are heartbreaking and uplifting, joyous and sad. It was a great read, each story carrying its own weight and making me take a moment to process after each one I read.
