Really enjoyed the writing in this. Very engaging and conversational way of writing and I learnt a lot of new things about living in the Victorian era as a LADY. Non-fiction isn't really my vibe, but it's been one of the better ones and I actually finished it (YAY!)

Condescending tone combined with frequently misinterpreted facts. There are much better books on the subject out there.

Good idea
It was a good idea and I liked reading about what life would be like without modern amenities. I got tired of the condescending tones of the narrator, and that really made me want to put this book down.

Very fascinating and unsettling.
I liked the tone of the narrator- I love nonfiction, but obviously it has the unfortunate reputation of sometimes being a bit dry. It was absolutely not the case here. The framework around the information (you and the narrator are traveling back in time) worked so well in this aspect.
Audiobook-wise, the narrator was wonderful and captured the writer's tone. I love it when writers break the fourth wall, speaking directly to the reader.
Note this isn't a complete "time traveler's guide" to the Victorian period. The lens is focused on women (health, lifestyle, fashion, etc.).

Entertaining enough, though the tone was sometimes trying too hard to be funny for my taste.
Perfect for listening whilst working on my current 1890's-inspired blouse and skirt sewing project.
