I’m not sure why I had such high expectations for this book, but in the end, I was left disappointed. Objectively, I can recognize its significance for the genre at the time it was published—a story that transformed vampires from mere monsters into something more complex. However, on a personal level, their introspective reflections didn’t intrigue me at all.
I couldn’t connect with the characters, nor did I care about them. The theme of an ancient soul trapped in a young body could have been explored in a way that felt less off-putting. That said, the writing is undeniably atmospheric—dramatic, dark, and rich. Fans of the genre will likely appreciate its immersive quality.
Even though the book has an open ending and continues as part of a series, I have no desire to read further. I could barely wait to finish this one. The theme and style simply aren’t for me at this moment; I found them tedious, unengaging, and at times even overly melodramatic.
Still, I’m glad I read it. This novel has become something of a genre classic, and I can appreciate its place in literary history. But that’s where my satisfaction ends.

It's both fascinatingly grotesque and incredibly boring. The most shocking part of this book is that Lestat and Claudia were able to put up with Louis for 70 years. I spent 7 hours with him and wanted to strangle him.

This was kind of boring?
I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn’t watched the movie first
I liked the narration style but it was so slow
Might continue in series; undecided at this point
Could have been more gay
