I took me a long time to get the motivation to finish this book. While I still wanted to know what would happen, I found it to be unnecessarily wordy and dancing around concepts without the ideas ever coming to fruition.

If you've seen the movie, you don't need to read the book. It's exactly the same, and somehow feels way harder to get through. (I love the movie)
2.5 stars rounded up to 3.
Interview with the Vampire has a slow, contemplative plot. I found my mind wandering quite a bit while reading this. I haven’t seen the movie. Maybe seeing this on screen could be worthwhile.
The parts with Lestat were entertaining. Lestat is sort of a mentor to Louis at first but becomes his worst enemy.
The settings were well done in New Orleans then Europe and Paris.
When I compare book this to Dracula, which I’m currently reading, Interview with the Vampire isn’t nearly as engaging.
I will continue the series. I’m chalking this book up as a first in series that has potential to be great.
