This is my second reading of the book, and I have to say that it has improved with age - my age that is! I have a much greater appreciation for Louis' existential musings as an adult than I ever did as a teenager, and am much more invested in the series as a result. I also thoroughly enjoyed the slower, gothic writing style which was just perfect for the autumnal weather!

While the last quarter of the book was packed with plot twists and emotion, it was not enough to offset the disturbing themes and tropes of the rest of the it.

Brutal to get through. Couldn’t stand the main character, he hates everyone and loves everyone. Just so dramatic. Do not recommend.
