I won't spend much time harping on this book for being pop science, which isn't my favorite genre. I will say that I was disappointed not to find even a cursory reference to trans people. In a book about sex and gender, it felt like a glaring gap.
Really, really interesting and it validated a lot of thoughts that I've had over the years.
Essentially, not everything is actively sexist but most things passively exclude the female perspective and lead to sexist results. A lot of the time it's up to ignorance and lack of data on the female perspective and the unwillingness to ask.
TL;DR: Women are not just small men and need their own separate data to be taken into account when considering design, politics and science.

Very informative and well-researched though a bit depressing. Invites an interesting conversation about the downsides of gender neutrality when gender differences will still exist for the foreseeable future. Did sometimes feel a bit repetitive.
Amazing read and it’s everything I already knew through lived experience but nice to have it laid out on paper. Intersectional as it covers women from all over the world and women in all sorts of income situations (not sure why people said it didnt..) and it focuses solely on women issues which I think is extremely necessary. Especially when typically women issues get shoved in w queer issues. Appreciated the enhanced focus look on a large (QUIET) problem. Glad she didn’t stray from women issues as it would have lessened the message.
